The school is situated in the village of Vallekilde in Odsherred municipality on the island of Zealand. ==History== The school was founded in 1865 by the theologian Ernst Trier who worked in the tradition of N. F. S. Grundtvig who is seen as the spiritual figure behind the many folk high schools that were founded in Denmark during the second part of the 19th and the 20th century. The building had significant new elements added in 1876, 1884, 1907 and 1962. Architect Martin Nyrop who is known as the architect behind the Copenhagen City Hall designed the gym from 1884 and the northern wing from 1907.
